OMOM was founded with the idea of making it easier for people to choose reusable products that are both practical and stylish. It all started with the insight: fabric bags need to be used many times to really make a difference. Therefore, bags were needed that not only last long but also feel practical and natural to use.
From that idea, OMOM grew. I wanted to create products that combine function and style, while being thoughtful and made with care for both people and the environment.
Every step in production has been reviewed to guarantee quality and safety, from the origin of the material to the finished bag in your hand. The goal was clear: to develop durable, non-toxic reusable bags that people really want to use. Since the start in 2015, I have worked with the same manufacturer in India. We share the idea of making products from organic cotton that last for many, many years! The workplace in India is certified as a fair workplace. This means the artisans receive a living wage to avoid having to work multiple jobs. They are paid hourly instead of per product sewn, which is the most common setup in the textile industry. Hourly wages contribute to a more humane workplace. Our artisans received full-time wages throughout the pandemic, through lockdowns and difficult conditions to get to work. We are proud of that!
Today OMOM is more than just bags; I want all products to be a reminder that small, conscious choices can make a difference. It's not just about replacing single-use bags but about creating habits that last. If we are going to buy newly produced items, they should be of very good quality and produced in the best possible way!
Today, several people work with OMOM; Laila manages the warehouse located in Småland, Vanessa takes the lifestyle photos, Lisa handles advertising, Patrick manages the warehouse in Texas, USA, Anki takes care of accounting, and Sanjib oversees everything in manufacturing. The rest is done by Linda, who founded the company. Thank you for shopping small-scale with us!
